Social Transformation – Research on Precarisation and Diversity (Open Access Journal)

Thematically, the journal concentrates on the process of coming to terms with socio-economic and socio-cultural shifts arising from globalisation. Taking its cue from the S.U.P.I. network, the e-journal’s research field consists of inter- and intra-disciplinary approaches addressing the effects and consequences of social transformation processes. Precarity, which is currently affecting the European social landscape so dramatically, is another major thematic priority.

The journal was conceived as a forum for discussion of critical, integrative analyses of social transformations drawn from different fields, such as the humanities, social sciences and economics. One fundamental aim of the journal is to develop action-oriented approaches exploring avenues for enquiry into social transformations and their practical consequences.

The journal is hosted by the CeDiS-Freie Universität Berlin (Center for Digital Systems – E-Learning, E-Research, Multimedia).

The relevance of the journal lies in its goal of providing a forum where different theoretical approaches can be brought together in an integrative environment. It emphasises the latest empirical research and enables solution-orientated discussions between individuals active in different fields (researchers, social workers, politicians etc.).

The journal is therefore a place in which actors from various fields can develop pragmatic strategies for social action.
